UNU-BIOLAC - Graduate Student Travel Awards

The Global Innovation Initiative Workshop “Applying cutting-edge genomic technologies to prevent the global emergence of antimicrobial resistance at the animal-human-environment interface”, with financial support from The United Nations University – Biotechnology for Latin America and the Caribbean (UNU-Biolac) and United States Department of State/International Institute of Education (IIE) is offering travel awards to graduate students/young researchers from Latin America and the Caribbean, who are developing studies in the area antimicrobial resistance or in a field related to the Workshop. The purpose of the Graduate Student Travel Awards is to help graduate students/young researchers with travel expenses, including travel tickets, accommodation and registration fee.

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicants must be duly registered or enrolled for an advanced degree or diploma in a recognized college, University or institution of higher education in Latin America and the Caribbean or those who received an advanced degree (Master of Science, Doctor of Science) within the past 1 year. They must be classified as full-time graduate student or young scientist and must be following a curriculum in or closely related to antimicrobial resistance or an allied field. A gender balance for the awarded applicants will be targeted.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

The application must be typed in English and submitted with the following materials:

  1.  1-page maximum typed cover letter describing your research interests and experience as well as career plans;

  2.  2-page maximum curriculum vitae highlighting scientific publications and presentations in areas related to the Workshop;

  3.  1-page maximum letter of recommendation from your major professor or academic advisor indicating the current status of your graduate program and the progress you have made to date. More than one letter of recommendation is not allowed.

 

 

The documents should be sent by e-mail (gii.workshop.2017@gmail.com). Only submissions received until 23:59 of September the 10th, 2017  (New deadline) will be considered for selection.
